A plunge into the frigid water creates a swirl of color and energy. These large animals seem lithe and content as they navigate the underwater world. Thinned acrylic paint and ink created the designs of water on dampened watercolor paper. The bear was done with acrylic but allowed some of the ink to come through. This is in a simple, blonde frame and is ready to hang.
Is it going to be a long day or have you arrived home with your to-do list complete? Either way a fresh cup of comforting tea is just the ticket to refresh yourself. This character is Boltz. Boltz and his dog Brazer are featured in my latest children’s book, “Boltz and Brazer-Explorers”.
A content turtle pops out in color on a subdued underwater backdrop. His relaxed demeanor can’t help but make you exhale and enjoy his slow pace. Green, yellow and brown ink was dropped onto a soaked watercolor paper. When fully dried I added the turtle with acrylic painting. His wise knowing eyes tell us…slow down a bit.
And they’re off! This English Sheepdog races by the pasture at high speed with his precious cargo. Some deliveries require just a bit more attention. Greve and Celli pedal along the quiet forest floor. The short cut is a favorite for the duo and the filtering sun did not disappoint. Intriguing reading for this bespectacled, feathered bibliophile. Imagine his pondering on the works of Poe. Impressed? Insulted? Only the viewer can decide. The book on this piece was printed out and gel attached on a wood cradle. I then painted over to image attempting to stay true to the cover but adding a painterly feel to the art. The image is completed around the edge making it ready to hang.

The bear had no idea the drama this book held. The chairs, the beds…oh my! A fun daydream of a bear reading a famous story with one little girl and a Ursidae family. The book cover was printed and then gel medium onto the board. I then enhanced with acrylic the cover image. The bear is also painted with acrylic. The design continues over the edge so making framing optional.

Zebras take all the beauty of the horse and make it even more appealing with the coat of stripes. After a visit to South Africa I wanted to share my experience thru art. A simple body of water can sustain so many of the beautiful animals on the African plains. The sun adds a gorgeous reflection as this animal enjoys a drink.
